Ministry Update 12/17/10
Hey guys,
This past week has not been all to thrilling in the happening section of Smithwood Student Ministry. The weather has basically put a damper on everything that we have tried to do. Even though you guys are excited to get out of school for most of the week (I was too when I was younger) we did miss some important things this last week. But there is no reason to be worried because the big event was rescheduled.
The Tacky Christmas Sweater/Gag Gift/Finger Food/Worship Christmas Party of Awesomeness, has been rescheduled for this Sunday night the 19th at 7:00-8:30 in “the Attic” (Youth Worship Room). So make your plans now to attend. You will still be able to attend the Worship Service that night that starts at 6:00pm and then attend the party. You do not want to miss this it will definitely be one of the highlights of year!
Also be in prayer for those that are getting baptized this Sunday and make sure that you are there to support them and show them some love for entering into the family and following Christ through obedience through baptism.
Just a couple thoughts from this last week about the snow:
One morning this week when I woke up and looked out the window I was reminded of something. The ground and roads were covered with snow and as I said a small prayer, praying that they were too bad to get to work I started thinking about Isaiah 1:18, “…though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…”
Probably the best part about this time of the year, aside from the snow, is the promise that I am reminded of during every snow. It helps me remember how dirty and full of sin that I truly am. It shows me how God’s love covers me by God taking on human form and coming to earth to ultimately die on the cross for my sins so that I can be made clean and look as white and as pure as snow. This is all just mid blowing. It also helps put things in perspective during this time of the year and I am very greatly for that.
